zalman vf700 alcu

Figured out that the loudest component in my system is the video card under load. There's a loud, high-frequency, metallic rattle in addition to the audible fan whir when the card fan spins up.

I have an old 6600gt with a zalman vf700 alcu on it. That system will be retired soon. So I was thinking of putting the zalman on the 7900gs. Only the Zalman site only lists compatible with 7900gt. I know the 7900 GS and GT have pretty similar PCB and layout, but is there some power module or chip sink that may not work?

If anyone has a 7900 with a zalman vf700 alcu in place could you let me know.

I had a vf700 (all copper, no difference in the copper/al layout I'm sure) on my PCIE 7900GS. Dropped my temps from low 60's under load to lower 40's under load.

zagood- yeah I remembered something about the pcie to agp conversion chip having a heatsink that blocked mounting on nv 7x00series AGP cards.

slowspyder- nice! I didn't want to shell out $40 for a TR V2 if I already have something that will work.

Many thanks all.
