I realize but it also higher off of the mobo than the 900u.

I've seen people with the Zalman passive HS+Fan with the Zalman CPU hs\fan.

My experiences (a total of one) with Zalman have been great, so I say, if you really want that new North Bridge Cooler (why, i might add, is a different story...), get the Zalman.

I had the same dilemma, and I went with the slk900u for basically one reason.
If the fan in the zalman cpu HSF dies, you don't have a working HSF, if the fan on your slk900 dies, you can just replace it.
However long it takes to rma/replace the zalman HSF is how long you will not be able to use your computer.

I'm a big fan of things that look cool, but I wouldn't build a system with a $40-$50 HSF without utilizing a cpu duct. So in my case I can't see the heatsink either way, even with a window.

I just put the zalman 7000 alcu on my intel d875, which has a passive northbridge heat sink. No problems with the fit.

£27 (ok normally £32) for the 900u. damn that hunk of copper costs £53 (USD$88) here in the UK.
(anyone finding it cheaper please pm :))

Alpha PAL8045 is another beast of a HSF. (mobo compatibility)
