zalman 'golden flower' question: has anyone ever removed any of the 'petal' type things?

to reduce the size of the unit? I don't think it will fit in it's current configuration but reducing the size of it looks relatively easy....of course i realize that reducing the surface area will reduce cooling effectiveness but i'd still like to give it a shot.

Well you could do that, but first try squeezing the fins together slightly.

This might make airflow slightly less due to the gaps between fins reducing, but if this doesnt work you can always bend them back and then cut some off as you originally propose...

I read on a website a while ago where they did remove one of the fins due to it blocking something of what not..or did they use a dremel??

I really forgot..but I suppose taking one fin away wouldn't hurt...or would it?
