I just got my new P4 3.0C and abit IC7-max3.
I will be home with my son who is sick tomorrow and most likely will swap out current AMD setup into and oput the P4/mobo into my case (figure Antec Soho server type case).
My Zalman is on the way and will no way be in time.
If I install the stock HS tomorrow, will I be able to put the Zalman on it while the mobo is still in the case? Or will I need remove it. I know it doesn't have to be screwed to the mobo in same was say and Alpha Pal or SLK-u, but will there be anough room?
Thanks.

You will have no trouble installing the Zalman 7000 after the motherboard is in the case. It's very easy, only two screws to tighten. Just follow the instructions.

doesn't that thing weigh nearly a pound ??

just be carefull not to drop the heatsink on the motherboard, cpu, or memory during installation

i've cut squares out of the back of cases so i could access the mounting holes on the back of an installed motherboard
it sucks having to remove the motherboard everytime you put a new heatsink in

good luck
