Newegg has 2 Zalman cpu hsf

ZALMAN CNPS7000A-AlCu Aluminum + Copper CPU Cooler $32.99
ZALMAN CNPS7000A-Cu pure Copper CPU Cooler $40.99

The first is aluminum and copper the 2nd is pure copper. Is the pure copper much better than the Aluminim one? If so why thanks

I would prefer the all copper model, it's a little heavier, but more evenly distributes the heat. it really is a matter of what you plan on cooling vs. what your budget is.

Its only an $8.00 difference im not overclocking and the cpu for now will be a Northwood 2.8 until i get a Northwood 3.2. The motherboard will either be an Intel perll or an abit ic-7 max II

If you move your case around a lot you'll probably want to alcu since it's within the limits for hsf weight. Otherwise the Cu one looks a little better imo

I've had both. I couldn't tell a difference, besides cost and weight. I no longer have the Cu version and now have two AlCu units. Most reviews put their performance as near identical. Depending on the reviewer's setup, the AlCu unit has been known to actually outperform the Cu version (I think the DansData.com review).

save your money, motherboard strain, and same temps.

first of all its $8 and its bolted to the mobo, i have both and they are really easy to take off and put on once you get the mobo harness on, which is really easy, so weight is not an issue, and ifyou are looking for a cooler this great, price should not be a problem, i skimped on my axp2400+35W and got a 2200+ mobile and put the extra money into the all copper, this thing can handle anything you throw at it.

i went all the way up to 1.9Vcore @ 2600mhz and it never went above 51C, normally i just run my axp 2200+ at 2533 1.75Vcore and it never gets hotter than 47 underload

Why spend the extra money if it isn't needed? It's a total waste IMO.

For Intel boards, the Zalman 7000 is clipped onto the standard plastic retention bracket so weight would probably be more of an issue.

I'd definitely go with the AlCu version. Performance is basically identical to the all-copper version, it's more "mobo-friendly" and it's cheaper. I see no advantage whatsoever to using the all-copper Z-7000. My 2¢
