Im building a C2D E6600 gaming rig with plans for a slight overclock
I've been looking at two Zalman CPU coolers.

1) ZALMAN CNPS7000B-Cu LED 2 Ball Blue LED Light Cooling Fan
CNPS7000b-cu led

2) ZALMAN CNPS9500 LED 92mm 2 Ball Blue LED Light Cooling Fan with Heatsink
CNPS9500 led

I understand that the first will require an 775 bracket inorder to mount to the MB, as well as the fan configuration, but I other that that, the specs for the two seem very similar.

I've been reading alot of threads and its been established that the CNPS9500 is a decent C2D Cooler, but is it that much superior to the CNPS7000B-Cu?

I only ask since I got the CNPS7000B-Cu for like dirt cheap, and Im not sure if I really need a different Cooler for when I OC my rig.

Thanks

That's so heavy. I would not put that on my motherboard.
The other one is heavy too. But, not 755g!

7000 Cannot compete with the current coolers... the 7700 is still decent but larger

Thats what if figured after I randomly bought it with out really planning what I was going to do with it.

Such a pain to find decent Heat sinks since they are like oos on almost every site.

Regarding weight:

the Sycthe Ninja is 815G

the Thermatake Ultra 120 is 745g without fan.

775g is not sounding too heavy about now.

I have an Opteron 165 running at 2.7GHz (50% overclock) and I am using the stock 4 heat pipe cooler, which is less than 500g. I won't put any cooler heavier than 500g on my motherboard. I have no need.
That does not mean that you cannot or should not. It is just my preference.

Does it blow it away with less cfm? :p

Doh. Gotta watch the unintentional puns.

Coolingwise, yes, less CFM is needed, so much quieter.
