Zalman CNSP7000B-AlCu

Hey All,

I currently have a Zalman CNSP7000B-AlCu heatsink/fan combo. I'm curious if this will be a good cooling device for the new 3800+ AMD Chip (Venice core). Or if I would be better off getting one of the XP-120 heatsinks.

I will get the new heatsink if needed, but I'm hoping this one will do a great job. Any ideas?

I have had good experience with the CNSP7000B-AlCu on a Prescott. The combo should be able to chill a Venice.

However, I notice that most of the talk in AT centers around the XP-120 type coolers.

Above all make sure what ever HS you choose will fit your MB, have the right brackets, etc....

I would search these forum on the XP-120.

I'm using the 7000Cu on my Winchester and it's working great. I'm up at 1.71 volts, running 37 at Idle, mid-50s after an hour of Prime95 Torture It's nice and quiet too!

Oh, if you're wondering, it's a 3200+, running at 2.55ghz. Wish I could say the chipset was running so cool...

7700 would be even better and is not a lot more expensive that's if it fits your motherboard

The XP-120 is overkill. The stock HS/Fan can already get you more than 90% of a chip's overclockable speed so you should be more than fine.

Phlargo- Thats a pretty high voltage for a Winnie. How long are you planning on keeping it at those volts? Nice temps though.

Yeah, I tend to agree here. If people can pull excellent overclocks on stock cooling left and right, then the Al-Cu will just serve to reduce your temps a bit further and reduce noise. It's still worth it to me. I like mine very much.

CPNS's are great. Only reason to get an thermalright is if you just want an extra 50-80Mhz. definity not worth the price if you already have a good cooler. (I actually believe stock HSF is the as much as you need, little gained vs. price for aftermarket cooling, so take it what it's worth)

From a cost/performance/noise perspective the Zalman is the best value IMO.

Everything I hear says that if it stays at a reasonable temperature, the voltage shouldn't be a problem. But you think I might try a lower multiplier? This is at 255 x 10. It's actually running 1.525 with & 113% over, I think.
