Should I plug this bad a** big boy into the motherboard directly? Or should I use the fan controller mounted to the outside of the case? Which one will give me cooler temps? Cause, right now I'm using the fan controller turned all the way up to max, and still getting temps of 60+ just doing menial stuff. Thanks in advance.

plug it into the motherboard as i doubt you can even reach ur fan controller plus some motherboard won't even boot because the cpu fan isn't plugged in also it should have came with a fanmate 2 to control the fan speed.

I think you should reseat the heatsink if your getting temps in the 60s. Mine idles around 36-38 and under load goes up to about 45. I have mine hooked up to the fan controller set to silent setting....it sounds like a leaf blower at any settings higher than that.

What processor are you using? And yes, you should definately re-install the heatsink. Make sure you don't use too much thermal grease. I (and most other people) recomment Artic Silver 5 if you don't already have it. As far as plugging it into the mobo or into the fanmate, it's just a matter of how loud you want it to be. If you don't mind the extra noise, then plug it into the motherboard. But if you want it to be more quiet, then use the fanmate.

Processor is a P4 3.6 Prescott. I'll try reseating the HSF today...thanks. Using Artic Silver 5 already.

Took that huge piece of aluminum, copper and plastic out, and put my Coolermaster back in. A lot louder, but thats what headphones are for. Haven't broke 40C yet, not even after gaming for 2 hours.

Reinstall the Zalman correctly and temps should be normal (for a Prescott).

Definition of "normal" for a Prescott? 🙂

Can I run the fan controller on the coolermaster? I know, I know...reinstall the Zalman! But I don't wanna keep taking this damn pc apart, remove mobo etc...
