Anyone know what the difference is between the Zalman CNPS7000-CU and the CNPS7000A-CU HSF is? I can get the non-A for $33 shipped, but the A version is $41.

Thanks Jars, then I have should have no problem putting it on an athlon 64. One more question though, is there a general consensus that the 733g HSF is ok to use even though the maximum limit on Athlon 64?s is 450g? Zalman pretty much completely ignored that limit making a HSF 163% heavier than spec.

Yeah, the original 7000 comes with hardware for mounting on Intel's Socket 478 and AMD's Socket 754. The "A" just denoted that it includes stuff for Socket A Athlon XPs.

Unless you move your computer around a lot, with the way the 7000s mount, you shouldn't have any problem with the gargantuan weight of the copper model on an A64 board. However, why not go for the 7000-AlCu? It works exactly the same as the full copper, but it's cheaper and is much less massive.

I agree with Ikonomi, on top of the fact Alcu performs just as good if not better and if you ever decide to move your computer you won't have to dismount it.
