Im thinking of getting the Gigabyte board and that cooler, however it doesnot specific state that it fits socket 939 but I read somewhere it did. I just wanted to make sure from someone running that chip and using the ZALMAN CNPS7000A-AlCu it will work.

thanks

Let it run a bit and heat up, then gently took a flat head screwdriver and it came off pretty easily. Just be careful not to damage the mb

i didnt even let it heat up...i just pushed on the two holes on the front side and it popped right out the back, it wasnt stuck that well, just enough to stay and enough to pop out easily. it took me like 5 min to figure out that it WAS indeed able to be taken out. at first i thought it was jus stuck on there.

It fits on the msi k8n neo2 just fine. No clearance issues, etc.

It will work for ANY Athlon 64 board, assuming there's sufficient clearance. Socket 754, 939, and 940 all use the same retention mechanism.

My advice is to just get a Thermaltake Venus 12. I am using it successfully and you don't have to mess with the motherboard HSF retention bracket.
