Hello I am currently running a P4 2.4C Ghz CPU and was thinking about getting a Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu to silently cool this CPU but I have some concerns. I guess my first concern is how silent is it? I would like to run it around 2000 RPM if possible but still get relitivly decent cooling. My second question is how easy or difficult is it to install on my Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 motherboard, because I have also read it does not stay were its suppose to. Anyway any guidence on this product would be appriciated. Thanks

I am running mine on a GA-8IPE1000 Pro 2.4C with SpeedFan software at a minimum of 10% / 1500RPM which is adequate for idle operation as it maintains around 30-33 C in a fairly warm room. So it is quiet and does the job well. I noticed it can slide a bit on the core if pushed but the bottom of the sink is big enough that it shouldn't matter.

I got this heatsink with my 2.4B@3Ghz with this same heatsink/fan on my Asus P4PE board. The problem must be with the board since it idle at 44C and 60C underload. I think the board is reporting high temps.

Same setup here but my 2.4 @ 2.4. Motherboard Monitor reports my temps as 41C idle and 51C under load.

This is at 1450RPM with the included FanMate dialed all the way down. This cooler is not truly silent. But it is far from noisy. I found it very easy to install. uses part of the stock heatsink/fan retention mechanism.

Can you tell me how you used the part of the stock HS/F for the retention mechanism? Perhaps you could send me some pics to my email.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I was just referring to how it utilizes the existing retention guide on the motherboard. You know how the aluminum bars slide through the slots? Sorry if I caused any confusion.

I've used the AlCu version and am now using the Cu version on my 2.4C. It is reasonably quiet - probably quieter than most or all other HSF units (ones that are made and sold together, not pieced together). It's also impressive looking. People see it and go, "wow!" It also blows air onto the Northbridge area - which I took advantage of on my IS7 by replacing the HSF with a passive heatsink.

how did you find the alcu version, is it the same fan as the cu version.

Do you know how many c's dropped by changing. Is it about the same.

I'm worried about cu type products. I have a big old brass bed that my mom had, and it's all tarnished. The same thing will probably happen to cu type products.

It will take awhile. But then you have to like dunk the whole thing is a cleaning solution. Tarnish will hamper the ability of the heatsink to disperse heat.

From reviews I have read (on the Athlon XP Zalman CNPS6000Cu vs AlCu, not the P4 ones). From what I have read the all Cu coolers seemed to have lower temps. Albeit by only a degree C or 2, not a big deal. As far as tarnishing, yes Cu does tarnish (of course the Copper in the AlCu version would tarnish just as fast). Also, of couse by "as fast" I really mean to say as slow. Unless you decide to give your PC or heatsink a bath the copper will not likely tarnish in it's lifetime. You will more than likely have gone trough several heatsinks before you got any tarnishing. Maybe in a super humid locale, or again, after a PC bath... I have never, ever, once heard about a tarnished heatsink (that was properly used). So, bottom line, don't get it wet. If you do, I think you really will have more problems with your PC than a tarnished heatsink...

I'm running a P4 2.4 . Was at 40C dropped down to 30C on a P4B533E mobo.

I had the stock intel heatsink , then replaced it w/ the cnps7000-AlCu version.

There is no diff in noise for my system. I'm running 2 - panaflow's 120mm fans.

Jose
