hi!
I just got parts to build a new machine
I have a P4bB Deluxe MB
E6660 not overclocked (yet)
2GB Corsair DDR2-800
with a evga 8800gts gpu
750watt PCP&C psu
thermaltake case

I think I got the wrong 9500, the instruction book says to hook the fanmate2 to the MB but the ASUS book says it needs something hooked up to the CPU_FAN connector - 4 pins, the Zalman only has 3

will I fry my cpu if I turn it on without something on CPU_FAN, I haven';t got into the BIOS yet to disable the thing cuz I'm afraid I will burn up my cpu if I don't do it exactly right. I've seen lots of sigs that describe using the combination I have but I don't know for sure how it is hooked up I guess there is a 9500 AT that has 4 pins out there as well

:-(
help

you connect the fan to the fanmate, then the fanmate to the cpu_fan connector, correct? All 9500's are made for 775/939/754. There shouldnt be a problem

my cpu's fan only has 3 pins also while my motherboard supports 4

the pins on the board can accommodate either a 3 or 4 pin connector. It only fits one way. It'll be fine.

Yes, i connect to the 9500 fan to the fan matebut the fanmate only has 3 pins and my MB has 4. I see what you guys mean that it should fit, I had to push it hard to make it fit but things lined up ok. Now I'll finish the other stuff and cross my fingers. what's the chance that everything works the first time? :)

thanks!

these days all you have to do is plug everything in correctly and you set up the boot sequence. i would say 90%

well I tried
hooked up the P4BD, E6660, Zalman9500, added Corsair PC800 DDR, added evga 8800GTS, a couple SATA drives & DVD/CD, went slightly crazy trying to put in the wires for the switch/reset/HDD LED etc, plugged in the 24 pin main power, added 4 pin cpu power, added pci-e power from PC Power & Cooling 750w psu to gpu, put power to other devices, double checked connections
held my breath & turned on the power switch

oops

pretty blue LED on ASUS board lights up, no power-click, no fans, no PSU fan, no boot, no disks spinning, no joy
I wanna cry, now I have to leave for a wedding for the weekend - probably a good thing to get away

ASUS P5B Deluxe sry can't type/spell dunno what a P4B is

looked at the PCP&C website have a way to test if psu is DOA, will try that next & then will try my old antec 380w psu just to see if anything will spin
