This thing is the sheez. I just picked up a 4400+ last night to replace my 3800+ and put in in with my 7700AlCu and pretty much immediately cranked it to 2.4. I wanted the extra cache this time so the 4200 and 3800 were out and no way was I going to buy a 4800. The way I look at it, you can always add speed, but you can't add cache. I wanted a dual core, but I didn't want to lose any speed on single thread applications. At idle, I was running 36 and load 47 with the 7700. Now I'm at 31 idle and currently at 38 load running 2 prime 95's and typing this up.

You're supposed to face it to the rear exhaust, but I have an Antec P180 with a 120mm exhaust at the top of the case. I faced it pointing up since there is only 2 or 3 inches from the 9500 and the exhaust. My system temp dropped pretty substantially as well.

Congratulations man!

P.S. the opteron 165 is the same price as the 3800+, but it is 200mhz slower with 1meg of cache per core. Alot of people have gotten 2.8ghz overclocks on high end air cooling with it.

Daddyjaxx1,

Do you have an additional intake fan in the middle of the P180 or are you just using the top rear two and bottom that comes with the case by default. I have a P180 as well and just installed the 9500. I'm having it blow the air to the rear of the case, but noticed you are blowing it up. I just purchased an additional fan to place as an intake fan for the middle drive cage. I don't have any drives there and all my drives are in the lower cage.

I'm having trouble getting that plastic inner fan cage off to mount the new fan. If you do have a fan in the middle, did you remove that plastic inner frame? The holes on the metal frame do not match up with the holes on the installed plastic frame. I assume I need to remove that inner frame, but don't want to use too much force...seems like I need a hammer!

Thanks

Seems that most people who buy the 9500 are getting good results... I might need to buy 1!
