Zalman 9500 and Asus p5b Deluxe - QFAN not responding

Hi Guys,

I just built two identical machines as in my sig. My problem is that my Zalman's are running at 1300rpm (the minimum speed), and they are not responding to any commands from Qfan, either in the asus suit in Windows, or in the BIOS.

At one point i had one Zalman running at top speed (2650rpm - dropped my temp 5c!) but when I rebooted it was screwed up again.

Anyone else running into this problem?

Its depends on which version of the 9500 you have. Is it the 9500AT or the led version? The AT version has 4 pin and will work with Q fan but the led version only has a 3 pin design but does come with a fanmate to adjust the rpm.

Hey, thanks for the quick replies!

I checked this morning, its the Zalman 9500AT and the connector is 4 Pin. It says in the manual that the fan speed is controlled by the motherboard. I also noticed that if i disable QFAN in the BIOS then it runs at full speed, which is something at least. And I have two identical machines which are acting the same way.
