Can I use the Zalman 7000cb with a C2D setup based on the DS3 MB? I intend to do some OCing with it and needed to replace the stock cooler and I have a couple of these Zalmans available.

i am using the same setup but with a zalman 7700 instead. FYI, while the zalman coolers are WAY better than stock, the 7000 and 7700 are still quite a bit behind the zalman 9500 and the scythe ninja. at 3.1GHz and above, my e6400 is limited by heat. I can get the CPU to run stable at 3.24GHz or even higher, but the heat is just too high - 67C is way too high for a 65nm chip. in order to keep temps under 60C, i have to run my chip at 3.08GHz.

I would definitely spend less, and get a Scythe Ninja. They're selling them for around $35 now. And now, they come with a fan.;)

Good info. I think I will be happy to hit 3.0ghz considering the performance/$. If I get greedy I'll have to flip for the Ninja.
