Well finally got my Zalman 700 on my GTX and its cooled it to 40c idle but i can hear abit of a what i can only describe as a windy noise, abit like the air the fan is blowing out is funnelling through somewhere and making a slight whistle effect noise. Is this normal? There are about 5 holes left on the card where screws used to be, maybe the wind is travelling up through those holes? Thoughts please.

i think the fastest setting is slightly loud. If you have a very quite system you can probably hear it. Turn down the fan a little and see if it helps

I use SpeedFan to control my fan speed biased on my chipset and CPU temperatures. When temps. are ?low? my fans spin down to 60% and are much quieter. If I start to run something that causes my CPU and chipset to heat up, it will trigger my fans to spin up to 100%. Very handy.

Sorry i think this may be my cpu that is making this whining noise, its subtle but its annoying. Fan noise does not annoy me but i really do think this is my cpu and fan is magnifying it. Is it possible for a cpu to emit a high pitched noise that fluctuates?
