Z97 vs Z87 for overclocking. Any difference?

I have an ASRock z87 Extreme4 w/ an i7-4770K overclocked to 4.2GHz at 1.23v. I just bought the MSI Z97-G55 from NewEgg because it's currently $79AR and I needed it to build an office computer. I'll be pairing it up with a Pentium G3258 and then overclocking it.

So my question is, does anyone know whether the z97 overclocks better than the z87 board or are they going to be the same? If the same, I'll leave my home PC alone versus swapping it and having to redo my OS and everything.

Edit: Nevermind, I ended up finding a HardOCP review that mentions that he was able to get a higher overclock with the z87 with lower voltage than with the z97. The flip side is that the z97 boards produce a lot less heat for the same amount of voltage, but you need more voltage than the z87 to get the same overclock. For example, the reviewer got an i7-4770K OC at 4.7GHz at 1.28v with a z87, but couldn't get beyond 4.6GHz at 1.38v on the z97. Perhaps more mature firmware can fix this gap, so if anyone with experience can chime that would be appreciated.

I read the opposite, one site managed to get their review chip that they had been using for ages to higher clocks on a z97 board than they were with z87.
 
Thanks, I'll just have to make the effort to test both boards and see for myself then. Knowing my luck they'll overclock the same.

Keep in mind that there are three permutations:

1-z87 old bios
2-z87 new bios
3-z97

Some people like First have noticed that the new z87 BIOSes make voltages behave like z97. I have the same Asrock board you do and I'm going to install the new BIOS this weekend.
