z97 pc mate motherboard and RAM - does all RAM have to match?

Right now I have this RAM: (CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=CMX4GX3M2A1600C9-_-20-145-260-_-Product

I am wondering if I can use a different kind of memory for the other 2 memory slots. I'd like to get 4GB by 2 for the next 2 slots. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, pretty sure you can have two different sizes, as long as they're the same voltage and speed, and stay in dual-channel mode. Technically, I think you could have 1x1GB, 1x2GB, 1x4GB, and 1x8GB, but then you'd be in single-channel mode.
