Z87 MPower MSI, correct port speed?

I have a GTX680 and the port is reporting X8 2.5 GT/s is that the correct speed?

I also have 2 OCZ PCIe SSD drives and one of them is reporting X4 5.0 GT/s and the second is at X4 2.5 GT/s. This seems a bit off to me, is this also right?


All 3 cards are plugged into the X16 slots.

Yes, vid card is in slot 1.

Then it should be running the card at X16 and both SSD's at X4.
Looks like your SSD's are running X8 = 5GT/s and X4 = 2.5GT/s and the GPU X4. You have any other PCIe equipment in X1 or X4 slots? Some boards share bandwidth between slots.

Negative, just those 3 cards. So to understand this, these slots share 16x? I was under the impression that each slot was capable of 16x and the rest were 1x on this mobo.

Are there any bios changes I can make to force 16x?

I took the specs for the slots from Newegg but this "3 x PCIe X16 Gen3 (16, 0, 0), (8, 8, 0), (8, 4, 4)" is from here http://www.msi.com/product/mb/Z87-MPOWER-MAX.html
Newegg is wrong! All three slots share 16 lanes so getting X8, X4, X4 is max what you can do. There is though only 1% performance difference on average running GTX680 in ver 3.0 slots at X16 or X8. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Intel/Ivy_Bridge_PCI-Express_Scaling/23.html

I wonder how the performance would change if I moved one of the SSD drives to a 1x slot, I guess its time for some testing... Thanks for the help!
