Z87 motherboard and new PCI-E SSD compability

In the review it is said that z87 chipsets can not boot from pci-e SSD's.

I ve got a Asus maximus VI Hero. Am I stuck with SATA drivers, or is this solvable with a bios update?

I don't see why Z87 boards couldn't boot from a PCI-E SSD. The only issue would be that they would have to boot via a provided option ROM, rather than through a facility natively provided in the BIOS.
