Back ports do not recognize USB 3 devices, recognize USB 2.0 - yet onboard headers work fine. This is possible because the back ports use a different chip, yes? They are on a hub. Broke after a freeze in Linux mint booted off USB 3.0 patriot ss drive.

Anyone have similar problems?

Could it be related to a modified BIOS?

If my sentences seem incoherent is because I'm on my phone. The previous sentence was done using voice command, I should try that more often.

I'm at a crossroads because no other motherboard has dvi, HDMI, and displayport all together. I will throw the baby out with the bath water over shit like this.
 
So its most likely the vli vl810-08 USB hub that died. Its pretty annoying, but not much I can do about it.
