Ok so in my first ever build that I started last week I put everything together fine yes done well I have the asus sabertooth z77 and both of my corsair vengeance ram sticks (2x8) were in. No on screen info would come up at all. I then troubleshot I took out both and tested individually and when I had one of them in the one stick worked the other didn't I sent them back to newegg and I have recently looked at the rams reviews on the store page and people are saying they experienced problems similar to mine if anyone thinks that a new batch of ram sticks like just new corsair vengeances will work please tell me if I need new ones also

One should never ask a question about RAM issues without specifying the exact manuf number for the kit, which would give the voltage and speed and the latency.
What bios vers is current would be nice too
And what CPU - whether or not a mobo will run say a 2133 speed RAM is dependent on the CPU. Intel says nothing over 1600 is guaranteed, and is considered "overclocking"
ASUS may say mobo is DDR3 2400/2666 "ready", but your CPU might not be "ready"

Generally speaking, without knowing about what RAM we are talking about here, is that 8GB sticks have higher latencies
So 4 X 4GB sticks @ DDR3 1600 1.5V usually has 9-9-9-24
The same sticks as 2 X 8GB units has 10-10-10-28

So with any 8GB RAM you absolutely must run the XMP profile in bios (AI Overclock)
I would also turn off Intel Turbo in bios
Setting XMP should auto set BCLK @ 100.0
If it doesnt disable CPU spread spectrum

This would be the standard Pak I would use for 16GB (4 X4GB)
High profile

Low profile
http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=485

Note that both actually list Z77 Saber as compatible

I dont see a single Corsair kit using 8GB RAM on the QVL list @ 1600DDR3
I do see a 4 X 8GB 32GB Corsair kit at 1866DDR3 @ 9-10-9-27
which is prob a bit optimistic for that large a kit.

Really? Did you look at the supplemental QVL list for that board? Seems to be one set listed on it.......

But I tend to take Asus's QVL list with a grain of salt.....I've run many sets of RAM on Asus boards that never got on the QVL list and worked perfectly, most recently the Samsung DDR3-1600 RAM that's been making news for itself by being a helluva overclocking set....

These puppies: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096

Put a 4 x 4GB set of them into an Asus Maximus V Gene, immediately took them up to DDR3-1866 on 1.5V and have had absolutely no problems running them....and nowhere are they listed on any Asus QVL list that I've seen.

@bluedragon91

I will leave you in the capable hands of "Meghan54" since he has a much wider experience with Z77 mobo and RAM than I do.
