z68 x25-e caching!

Anandtech tested the caching with the Intel 311 20GB and a Corsair Force 40GB and the differences between the total cache space showed. The MLC did not cripple the Corsair very badly, however... I think I may have to buy my wife a z68 SB based system and use the x25e 64GB I have in her current s1366 desktop. I've been waiting to upgrade her to SB when z68 came out. Wonder how this will fair as a cache. 😀

how does she use the machine? other than our dual gigabit nas backbone in the house we find local storage doesn't need to be much at all.

she's actually the bigger gamer in the house. mostly the sims and sim city like games. also likes rpg's and stuff. looking at the results, gaming benefits the most

occassionally she'll use corell PSP for photos and stuff, watch movies, etc. but like you, i have a couple of NAS' at home where we store most everything. whatever the game of the week is she plays will be nice for it to cache. games like the sims can get pretty high in load times. right now she has the x25-e as a boot drive and 2x 300GB velociraptors for games and even that takes a pretty nice chunk of time to load.
