z68 and p67 SLI 2x8X

I was considering an upgrade to a new mobo/cpu but I noticed most of the LGA1155 boards don't support two 16x PCIe slots. Does this impact performance a lot if you're going SLI?

Not at all, just pick up a gen 3 pcie board. Each lane has double the bandwidth meaning your x8 x8 works the same as a gen 2 pcie x16 x16.

Edit. keep in mind even on a gen 2 board you really don't lose much performance compared to x16 x16 even if you are talking about GTX580s
