z68 and 2500k overclocking

I'm currently in the process of overclocking my 2500k. I'm at 1.272v and it appears to be intel burn test stable. I'm planning on pushing it until my temps get close to 70C. Anyways.

I have 2 4gb sticks of ram and I was wondering if adding 2 more 4gb sticks has any effect on z68 overclocking?

I know it used to on older chipsets.

The IMCH on SB chips isn't the best but you can run a lot of ram without issue. However the frequency of the ram does matter. SB chips generally don't like speeds above 1600mhz. By this I mean that SOME chips require more voltage to get the higher frequency stable. By voltage I am talking about the vtt/vccio voltages.

Either way, adding more ram won't do much for your system. I highly doubt you are using 8gb's of ram on a regular basis lol let alone needing 16gb.

As far as your overclocking you aren't giving us a lot of information. What clock speeds are you at with those voltages? You can run 4.5ghz without issue on these chips with anywhere from 1.3 to 1.4 vcore depending on the chip and mobo etc.

Sorry, that's at 4.5ghz. I picked up a matching set of ram on sale for like 20 bucks but I never installed it. 70 dollar ram for that price I couldn't not buy it lol.

I was just wondering if adding it in because I have it would having any effect on stability.
