So I run win XP, have a santa cruz sound card and z560's on a epox 8kha+ with a 1700+. So today i was just sitting there listening to my music at a pretty damn low level, enough so that i could listen to it and watch tv which was at a normal volume.

All of the sudden the right front speaker goes out. I look at it and it goes back to normal volume again. It says there for a few minutes and then gets very very quiet again (never got silent mind you). So I go into balance and turned it all the way to right, then left, and usually they would be the same volume but sometiems the right side front would get very very (almost inaudible) compared to the left. So I checked all my connections (even the PCI sound card!) and still the same problem.

Right now it sounds fine but it is still intermintent. What could be causing this problem??? I have tried everything I can think of! Please help. Thanks in advance.

Trial and Error my friend.

Take the speakers, test them on another box. If they check out ok, take the sound card out and test it on anotherbox with different speakers. If it works, use the sound card and speakers on another box and see if it works. How long have you been running with the sound. Did you just build this system?

Dumb question: Does the board have onboard sound, and is it disabled?

You mean intermittent? It works on and off?

Hope you kept your receits.

PS. Love the way you say "All of the sudden the right front speaker goes out. I look at it and it goes back to normal volume again", as if to say "ummm, no."
