i remembered somebody said u've to place that sub in some way so it will sounds nicely, anybody has a link or knows how to place it so it will outputs the best bass effects? thankss

this unit is powerful enough that you don't need to place it anywhere special. some people actually try to place it under a bed or a similar palce to actually muffle the sound a bit on the eager sub. the traditional placement for subs (at least for old school, weaker ones) is to put them near a corner of the room to bounce off sound from two walls. for home theater you also want to have it in front of you.

just remember, this unit can NOT be near your cpu!

Unlike the satilites, the sub is non directional. You don't have to place it anywhere specific to get the best sound.

true

false

the sub is non directional but placing it in different areas of the room will effect how the base sounds.

putting it in the corner of the room will make it more pronounced and muddier.

it's best to put it somewhere between all 4 satallites but not too near any large object

TheWart, BennyD are both right while the frequencies coming from the sub are non-directional placing the sub in different parts of the room will alter the sound. The room and location you place your speakers will change the sound not so much for sats., but for full size speakers and subs.

For my Z560's I placed my sub under my desk with the port firing into open air and driver facing the outer room, prolly not the most neutral location but the most practical for my situation. I wouldn?t but the sub in a corner, bass would be far to exaggerated. I would also take note of where the driver and port are firing, into open air would be best. If possible I would try to put the sub in open area of the room not near any walls or large objects.

How close is too close? I have Z-340 speakers and right now the sub and my computer are both jammed under this pitfully small desk because I have nowhere else to put them.

Depends on the strength of the magnet on the driver, the Z560 8" driver is pretty big and out puts nearly 200 watts, if you believe Logitech?s claims. Either way its putting out allot of power and could mess up your hard drive, I would give it at least a foot for your Z340's assuming the sub isn?t shielded and more like 2-3' for the Z560.

Heres the easy way:
put the sub where you sit.
Play some music
Walk around the room and find the place where you like how the bass sounds. That is where the sub should go.

Ok, the sub is well over a foot (probably closer to two) from where my hard drive is in my computer, so I guess that's good. 🙂
