Are the 3000 gpu on a 2500k powered on the all time on a Z68
Does the gpu have a temp sensor.
Are there any good reasons to use Intels RST SSD caching instead of a ssd boot drive.
if you can fit your OS (with some tweaking you can get Windows 7 down to 10-12GB fresh install) and most important apps all on the SSD, IMO no caching is not worthwhile, the pure SSD will still be a helluva lot faster
of course the decision becomes harder if you have quite a few frequently used programs (for instance, my steam folder alone is over 300GB and would thus require me spending $700+, although more likely $1000+, if I wanted to install everything strictly to SSDs)
you can also always try aszu's method: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2172381 to do both on the same drive, although you'd really have to minimize the OS's footprint if you want to install any other apps on the slim space you'd have available on your 64GB drive.
On my 930 the ssd with win7 uses 11.6gig dam recent updates.
While running my 2500k on top of the MB box it seems slow do to no ssd today.
Think I will get a 64 ssd for the z68 so both PC fell the same.
I read aszu's method from the start and it reads like the SSD cache would just be coping a extra set of his system files.
Sure wish aszu's could run a benchmarks
Thanks
