Just installed my new Z-5500's and OMG do they pound. I'm glad i went with these speakers. Can't go wrong with the price of these and the quality they produce! Can't stop listening to music!

Congrats!! I have the older z-680s and I love them. I can't imagine what their new big brother can do!!!

Really the only difference is the sub. The 680's have an 8" sub and the 5500's have a 10". Should have bought these things sooner!

It does with these, there is virtually no distortion with my 680s, I would have to think these are better. They produce a very clean sound, so if you set them to bump, they will pound clean.

Now I find myself wondering... do you mean:

pound = !quality (i.e. loud speakers are automatically bad)
or...
pound != quality (i.e. loud speakers aren't necessarily good)

?
