Z 5500 makes a noise whenever somthing is turned on/off

I think its the sub, it makes a short "boom" whenever somone turns on/off lights or sockets. It does it when i turn on the fan that sits behind the sub to keep it cool.

It dosent really bother me too much, but i would like to know why it does it?

My Creative Soundworks System does the same thing when it's on the same Circuit as whatever device is being turned on/off.

If you have a UPS or Surge Protector you can try plugging the power into that. The Filtering should eliminate or at least reduce your problem.

Well my own system doesn't do it when the lights go on. I don't remember if my z-560s used to do it.

When my secondary receiver turns on, the lights flicker a bit. My preamp / amp turning on doesn't do it, just the secondary Onkyo 602.

My system doesn't seem to be affected by the other power usage around it, rather it affects the lights. (I've had the lights dim before when being louder than normal).

I think it's more of a design issue than just drawing a lot of power.

I am getting it too with my z5500,whenever lights or airconditioning is off. It's plugged in a surge protector though,so I am hoping it's fine

I think that when there's a large change in the circuit such as when you turn on a light, the power supply on your amp takes a split second to adjust to once again feed the appropriate power to the devices.
