YouTube Will Stop Placing Unskippable 30-Second Ads in Front of Videos in 2018

this has never been an issue with adblockers.

Also replaced with unskippable bumper ads, I haven't seen those yet.

I've never seen these on PC due to ad blocker plug-ins. On my TV via the YouTube app there's commercials before most videos but you can skip them after about 3 seconds.

That was a stupid idea from the beginning. They used to have static ads around the video area, those were tolerable. As soon as they started having commercials it pretty much forced everyone to get an ad blocker if they didn't already have one.

Recently they've been fudging with stuff though, I had some get past ublock. ublock may have fixed this now though. I ended up switching to adblock.

Mainly see the 30 second unskippables in front of Vevo music videos. They get annoying. I can handle 15-20 second ones fine because by the time I hear it and go looking for the "Skip" button, it's almost over.

of no consequence to me i have adblocking on my home network on the DNS level, so PC's or phones or my TV's have not had youtube or any other adds in a while now.

Good news, but I appreciate their dilemma and only use Ad blockers if FF is acting up(happens on occasion where it crashes from Ads). Running a service like Youtube must be expensive, especially when they are sharing revenue with Content Creators.

It has gotten pretty bad on the app. An add every 2-3 videos.

Is there a blocker for Android? I doubt it. Plus, I'm using the app which is probably impossible to intervene.

If you are on your home network a DNS level adblocker does indeed block andriod youtube adds. As far as on the go i have not found a andriod adblocker yet that i really like. If you do let me know.

Fixed that 😛

Im sure google gets PLENTY of money from youtube,"in-line" ads or not.

Eh, I figure the channels I watch need the revenue to continue so I'll deal with ads....or break down and pay for Red.

Thanks.

I'm always on T-Mobile so that's probably why AdBlock doesn't work.
