Youtube video stuttering on EEE 900?

I just got an EEE 900 and it won't even play Youtube videos smoothly. It skips ahead 2-3 seconds very frequently, sometimes stops to load, or just lags. I let all videos buffer fully before watching, so it's not a bandwidth issue.

I've had a 500mhz P3 laptop with 256mb of ram that would run Youtube videos with no problems at all, and AFAIK the 900 runs at ~630mhz off battery, so what could be the problem? Is it Xandros, the CPU, or something else?

Tough call. I had a 400Mhz computer that under linux would play videos smoother than in Windows XP. But, those were not flash videos.
Maybe it's the flash version for Linux? Enough flash stuff can bring even the fastest computer to its knees.

You could try installing noscript and flashblocker for Firefox. Noscript will keep javascripts running which you do not want, and flashblocker does the same for flash. You enable the javascript websites allowed, so it blocks things like advertisement websites which often link through a site you're visiting, to display their ads. Enough ads and javascript (think Tomshardware's website) and the site begins to take a big tole on your CPU.
You could also look into un-underclocking the cpu. I think you can turn that on and off if you want, which would mean you could enable it for when you're doing some youtube watching.

I installed an Nlited copy of XP Pro, did a couple of the recommended tweaks and things are running much more smoothly now. At 900mhz it can almost handle HD video on Gametrailers, watchable but not perfect. At 630mhz Youtube videos are running fine, no skipping if I let everything buffer first.

AFAIK Youtube doesn't require Java, if I were to install flashblocker would that give me control over what gets displayed, i.e. the video only, or does it disable flash support fully?

it blocks flash by the individual item, iirc.
