Uploaded a video of a picture slideshow of my wedding a few weeks back... had a couple of people say they couldn't view it on their phone or ipad

went into the video setting and noticed this option that i have no power to change:

Syndication

No, this video should not be available on mobile phones and TV.

what gives? how can I enable that?

the video in case anyone wants to watch it

you used music or something else that has no license for mobile use.
seen this many times before.

remove the song or media they object to then re-upload and it should be fine.

after watching it I'm betting the music.

wtf. powerful censorship right there

Gotta love a country where everything is illegal yet we're somehow "free", huh? lol

I love America, but we're on the verge of becoming Nazi Germany these days. All in the name of profit.

i'm obviously not reselling the song, nor am i using it for commercial purposes... seems overboard. are they going to force me to roll up my windows when playing the radio in my car?

You used a song that is copyrighted by the artist.
that artist places whatever reproduction and distribution restrictions they feel like.
it is well within their rights to deem what is fair use of their property.

Don't blame Youtube. they only enforce what the Artist and their label tells them to.
And they have to or THEY GET SUED.

So boycott whomever is the artist in that song as they are the ones that are causing you the issue.

Sounds like a setting issue, check the setting where you the video can be played from all devices. It could be a copyright issue but it just prevents you from making money on the video if my memory is correct.

Looks like you used a Bruno Mars song. That could be a restriction set to allow you to still play the video with audio. There used to be radial buttons to set what devices allow the video to be played, but I have no idea where it is in the new layout. I cant change that anymore on my own videos which dont have any copyright claims. It was somewhat of a stupid setting anyway, so maybe by default it is set to Everywhere, and if there is a copyright claim, the content holder sets the restriction.

nope they changed that a while back.. now it can be on the request of the artist and label.

Apparently there is some kind of appeal process as I know several other people that had issues like this and got them worked out with Youtube.

so is there anything i can do?

Re-upload the video with new audio, where the audio does not violate someone's copyright.

You have used copyrighted audio, and the artist/publisher has requested that youtube display ads with their performance. As ads are not available on mobile platforms, youtube blocks your video from mobile platforms, as that is what the artist/publisher has requested.
