Your upload and download speed are only relevant at the time they are measured. What you may be suffering from is low bandwidth or signal strength. Are you on cable, DSL, satellite, Wi-Fi? Does it behave differently at different times of day?

i have exactly the same problem. it started after i upgraded to lion from snow leopard. i have been trying to find a solution, but nothing. at first it helped that i reinstalled safari, but now it doesn't help and the problem started to occur on chrome too.

I don't think the ISP is to blame.

Youtube use Flash for its videos, right? Try reinstalling it.

Valid point, Oynaz! That's an easy fix. Update Flash, or as you suggest, reinstall it.. With all those browser changes, it may be an older version.

I was thinking of a dropped signal. :)

BTW - I was having a lot of that last year - and solved it by replacing my router.

I don't know if it's the same issue, but my YouTube player would stop like that when I tried to resize the player - larger or fullscreen. Nothing would play, but the video was loading.

Unchecked "Enable Hardware Acceleration" and everything works perfectly now. Really strange, since this just happened all of a sudden (no changes on my hardware/software).

For me it is usually good..except around the usual 5pm-9pm when most people get home from work in the area. Best thing is to look for flash downloader plugin for your browser - save it to disk and watch it offline - a lot less frustrating .

OK - that sounds like you have cable access. That is the bandwidth sharing problem that I was alluding to in my first response.

yep and when you hit a video that loads from cache_xxxx.youtube.com

You would think the cache_xxx stuff would load faster ... but they always hang up.
