Youtube in HD

crazy that they're letting people upload up to 1GB files.

Anyway I'm test-uploading somethiing from my HD Camcorder right now... it's an MTS file converted to VOB (not listed as a format supported)... we'll see how it goes.
 
How the heck is 640 pixels wide "HD"? It's finally full quality SD, not HD. It would need to be 1280 pixels wide (720p) to qualify as HD.

The source videos are actually 720p. I've downloaded a few YouTube HD videos to confirm. Resolution is 1280x720, and bitrate was about 2Mbps I think.

Uh, if I had a 1280x720 video and cropped it to only show a quadrant of it (640x360), is it no longer "HD?" 😕

plus, true HD is 1920 wide, not the fake half-stop 1280x720 😛

granted, high definition is also relative...the quality youtube now allows is leaps and bounds superior to what they have been offering, the jump is significantly better than going from SDTV to HDTV, and thus I definitely approve regardless of any retarded technicalities.
