I'm finally working on a computer I posted about a few months ago. I got Ubuntu 9.10 installed and working fairly well, except for 1 problem... After installing Adobe Flash, whenever I try watching a YouTube video, my connection drops after 20 seconds or so, and won't come back until reboot. I tried uninstalling Adobe and using Gnash instead, but that was glitchy and caused very high cpu usage.

The wifi adapter is a Linksys wpc54g V3, and it uses a Broadcom chipset. So far it appears to work for everything except YouTube. I haven't tried Flash games or anything, but if YouTube doesn't work, I'll have to try XP. I'd rather not do that, as the COA sticker that should be on the bottom is AWOL. It's a Dell laptop, so I know it was once there. I've read that you don't have to activate when using Dell media, but I've never tried it for myself. Linux would be better for my intended uses anyway due to virus resistance.

Anyway, do any of you have an idea of where to look, or how to get this working right?

I honestly don't see anyway that the flash plugin can cause your networking to halt. I think something else is wrong.

Instead of rebooting try:
"sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart"

If that works, there is a problem that is causing the networking interface to crash.

No love. The network won't restart. I can see my router, as well as 2 others, but it won't connect.

Are you sure that it is only with Youtube and not just flash in general?
Do all browsers replicate this situation?
Try grabbing 'wicd' and using that instead of Gnome-Network-Manager. Does that work?

I sort of fixed it. I went back to 9.04, and everything's working great. It appears there's a good number of people having issues with streaming media and 9.10. I never got to testing it further than YouTube. That was a showstopper. If YouTube didn't work, I couldn't use the install.
