Does anyone feel okay about this thing on the youtube main page?

I'm kinda in the middle between it, but I can't help and feel like youtube is keeping a backed up log of what vids I'm watching on youtube. Now I gotta log out or make sure I don't click on things I don't intentionally want 'logged'.

I just wish it would let me watch all the videos on my phone. I have a craving for an awkward Journey music video...

They do, check out your history tab it keeps a log back months, maybe more than a year I'm not quite sure.

Paranoid a bit aren't we? Youtube doesn't even allow the types of vids most people would be worried about others finding.

My recommended list is odd. Some of them are from videos I watched a long time ago, and it's missing relevant links that are more recent.

Youtube has some odd behaviour. What I don't get is how come they have never completely fixed the status of watched subscription vids? For years now I keep getting vids pop back up from subscriptions that I have already watched. Now at least they put a "watched" tag on there, but is it THAT hard to keep them buried after I've watched them?

Pretty much everything you do online is being logged, with Google and Facebook leading the way. Shouldn't come as a surprise.

Since Google owns Youtube...is anyone really surprised that they keep track of what you watch?

Every company of size on the net is out there to make money, like any other company. So any company that offers their services for free has to be making money some other way. That way is advertising. For that advertising to really work they have to target the right ads at the right people, hence tracking what you do online. It's not limited to Google. I'm continually surprised that people think that all the services on the net actually are "free". I'm actually more surprised that most of these companies can keep running these "free" services. When you think of how much storage space and bandwidth something like youtube takes up, that's a LOT of advertising money to pay for that!

I know you know all this, just ranting.
