Holy christ.

I can't believe I left off the mastadon dung that is Windows Installer.

You can say it's great.....and blah this and that....but it's all FUD. Just try using the SDK.

can't sleep, sdk will eat me comes to mind.

and for people who say OE is alright...I agree it's an ok program if people stopped exploiting it, problem is that windows update doesn't catch bugs for OE 100%, Heck, it still tells me I need service pack 3 when I know for a fact it's already there. Plus, there's no way that MS can keep up with all the xploits for OE since it's tied to IE which is tied to windows. It gets "hacked" not because it's popular or people use it. It's not MS outlook, just OE. It gets hacked because every IE installation will throw OE into the system, regardless of whether or not ur using it.

I'm not sure about 5, but Outlook Express is one and number 2 may well be snapstream pvs. I think the authors are getting really lazy b/c 3.0 has been "supposed to be out" for about 5 months now and the features of 2.0 are starting to not work but nobody's issueing fixes, just promises. I'm starting to learn that vaporware can be a real headache.

WeatherBug - It's loaded with spyware, it slows the entire computer down, hogs network bandwidth and is a pain in the a$$ to remove from NT/2000.

ii) AOL - dont bother.

iii) EZ Cd creator - OMG, I cannot imagine how people use this POS. It is the most obstrusive, useless POS software ever. I uninstalled this software the first time I used it.

iv) MSN messenger - interferes with your TV tuner, crashes like crazy, dunno why my family uses it :(

v) Weatherbug- OMG, its going to rain today so I am going to make sounds that are going to drive the user insane and give 100 pop ups

EDIT: forgot Zone Alarm, OMG that program makes you wanna get off the internet.

sweet, you hate the same programs as me.. and all with good examples too.. :D MSN messenger = gay as hell.. it screws with TV tuners? I wonder if that's the probem I have with mine!

1.) Any Gain or Gator wear. In fact any buddy software. (like the talking parrot and stupid monkey thing)

2.) Steam (gets my vote every time. Nice idea, bad distrobution if you ask me)

3.) Modem Booster (takes ages. much longer then a bit of registry hacking)

4.) GameSpy (too bulky for something that is half as good as ASE)

5.) Precision Time (why bother? set the time yourself)

Just because it may contain ads doesn't mean it's the WORST software. It means it needs funding. You want ad-free stuff, you pay for it, like almost anything else out there... but it's no reason to single Realxxxxx out.

If you think it has spyware, why isn't Kazaa on anyone's list ? Yeah, thought so.

realplayer - it eats resources and causes conflicts with other programs in my experience - sounds like bad software to me...

kazaa sucks.
win me was a joke.
ati mmc of any vintage i have yet to get to actually, fully work.
win 98se was better than win me but that doesn't prove anything.
gator and its minons are about as annoying as it gets.

dew.

1. Realplayer (no explanation needed - why can't people distribute content in other formats and let this garbage die away)
2. Quicktime (absolutely terrible user interface, you have to go through 2-3 menus/drop downs just to get full screen playback, very hard to resize, crashes sometimes)
3. Win ME (no explanation needed)
4. The Acrobat Plug-In for IE (notice how if you open a .pdf in IE it acts so crappy compared to how normal it behaves when you save the .pdf and open with the actual program).
5. Logitech Mouseware (sits and uses 5MB of memory just to operate a mouse, also causes wierd mouse slowdowns).

Definitely Gator and those other Stupid spyware programs like BonziBuddy.
I dont know why anyone would knock Kazaa (except for the extra programs like Brilliant / Gain) when you could use Kazaa lite. I would rank the next batch of crapy software to be the ones modeled after Gnutella - like Livewire, BearShare, blah blah blah).
Wasn't that dinosaur game - I think it was called Trespasser pretty terrible? I think it's 2 or 3 years old now and I'm not even sure the processors of today can still run it at max options.
Oh yeah - and Survivor was by far one of the worst even though I'm still a Survivor / reality tv junkie.

Hehe, glad that we have the same thoughts:) About MSN messenger, the lesser said, the better. I have had two TV tuners and the horror stories just never cease. In my old computer, it was either MSN messenger or the TV tuner. Usually I had messenger uninstalled but when I had to chat with ym parents, I had to reinstall it. After chatting, uninstall again in order to watch TV

I swear to god the person who made MSN messenger should just be pushed off a cliff.

Win ME. I don't use it, but too many family & friends just had to jump on that broken @$$ bandwagon.
