Soundcard, I have no clue what it was. It was a package deal with a 4x CDROM and speakers out of an old catalog back when I was like 9, it was ISA based, and I threw it in an IBM PS/2 55SX so I'd have sound in DOS. The first real card I bought was a Monster MX200 soundcard, the first video card was an STB Velocity 128 (before they were bought out and ruined by 3Dfx), it was running Nvidia chips, after that was a STB Velocity 4400 which was the first TNT based card, before everybody else jumped on the Nvidia bandwagon. Awesome card for the time.

Soundblaster 16 (freaking nightmare having to put the IRQ, DMA and interrupt into every game... man I *hated* that)

Voodoo 3 2000 PCI IIRC.

The first sound card would have been the Creative SoundBlaster. Then the fancy SoundBlaster 16 came out and I had to upgrade. :)

As for the first real video card I bought, it was probably a Matrox Millenium. 4MB.. Oooohhh... Ahhhhh...

it was a pain in the rearend having to configure that for dos games and some windows games. When id had my packarrd bell computer back in the day, it had an option to shutdown to realdos mode and when it loaded into dos it had the soundcard all configure for you. it loaded the drivers and stuff. just had to set the settings in the game.

SB Live! and a TNT2 M64 were the first add in cards (already had an SB Live! and TNT2 Ultra in a pre-built machine we'd bought).

Sound: Soundblaster 8bit, but the stereo version yeah baby yeah...
Video: OTIvga with ET4000 accelerator...16bit ISA bus...another yeah :D

Time: 1992 in an Intel 486DX50(!), 8MB ram, 105MB HDD...this thing rocked that time...especially coming from an Amiga500...

First sound card was a give away Hercules Muse 5.1, first one I bought was the Chaintech AV-710 which I still use.

First video card bought was a BFG fx5200 for $99 from Wal-Mart so I could play UT2K3 back when I didn't know any better.

first machine had a SB16Pro, video card with 1MB of VRAM, SiS maybe?
first real video card was a riva tnt2 ultra, remember playing nfs (3?) hot pursuit on it.... could play the game on all high settings at 1024x768 (max my monitor could handle) w/o dropping a frame....
