Your Top Ten Albums of 2004

No Lifer
Well, in my opinion, 2004 was a fairly dismal year for good music releases. Since many of the fine folks here at ATOT seem to have good taste in music, I was thinking that I could elicit some feedback to see if there's any gems that slipped by me while I was busy playing KOTOR or something.
My candidates thus far are TMBG, Green Day, and Cake.

Off the top of my head:

William Shatner - Has Been
Green Day - American Idiot
Michael McDonald - Motown Two
Kanye West - College Dropout

Although, there would be many more if I sat down and thought about it.

ADDED:
O.A.R. (Of A Revolution) - 34th & 8th
Ray Charles - Genius Loves Company

I listened to that Shatner album, and it was alright, but I sincerely hope there were enough other good releases to bump it to at least #11. Haven't heard the other two.

I dunno... I really liked it... definitely in my top ten for 2004. Of course, that doesn't say much since there were few great albums in 2004 🙂

Oh, I forgot to mention Ray Charles - Genius Loves Company.

8. nas - streets disciple
9. underminded - the task of the modern educator
10. (t.b.d, will edit in later)

Hm... I think I might need to add Chuck to my list as well.

Loretta Lynn and Jack White - Van Lear Rose
U2 - atomic bomb
Diana Krall

that's about all i bought from last year

All That Remains - This Darkened Heart
Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake
Shadows Fall - War Within
Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache
Mastodon - Leviathan
The Black Keys - Rubber Factory
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine
Unearth - The Oncoming Storm
Chevelle - This Kind of Thinking (Could Do Us In)
Nirvana - Boxed Set

Tough one but I am surprised the ones I did like are listed already with those being Greenday, Sum 41 and Nas. I also would like to add Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue which I think was released in 2004.

I like your thinking.

In no particular Order

Chevelle - This Kind of Thinking (Could Do Us In)
Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance: The Master's Series
Phil K and Dave Seaman - Therapy Sessions
The Crystal Method - Legion of Boom
The Prodigy - Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned
Pig and Dan - Submission Sessions
Orbital - Blue Album
Sasha - Involver
Trafik - Bullet
A Perfect Circle - Emotive

Rock had a dismal year in 2004 as far as I'm concerned, hence only 2 rock albums. But then again, Rock in general has gone down hill for me, because I simply can't stand all the Punk Pop crap that comes out now and days.

I liked some of the albums mentioned above, but was also a fan of The Arcade Fire - Funeral.

Just checked the reviews, and I'll definitely have to give that one a listen.
