For those who don't know what Neo-Soul is, here's a blurb about it.

As 1990s R&B fused with hip-hop, a new generation of artists emerged who returned to the roots of funky, '70s style soul. Taking their inspiration from the likes of Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, and Aretha Franklin, artists like Maxwell and Me'Shell Ndegeocello rarely use hard-hitting rap beats, preferring classic soul vocals and live instrumentation. Most of these artists were raised on hip-hop as well, so hip-hop slang does creep into their music, as do the sampling styles that were popularized by the rap producers of the last decade. However, Neo-Soul artists are primarily dedicated to revisiting the soul of the '70s, blending new and classic styles to create a vibrant, contemporary sound.
My Top 5 List:

1. D'Angelo
2. Jill Scott
3. Lauryn Hill
4. Jamiroquai
5. Erykah Badu

Other notables:

Maxwell
Bilal
Musiq Soulchild
Angie Stone
Amel Larrieux
Alicia Keys

Groove Theory was one of the first Neo-Soul groups. Amel Larrieux used to be the lead singer. Then I think Res was.

Can't say I'm a fan of Neo-Soul... Nothing good's come out of Soul since Marvin Gaye died and Al Green converted :(

I'm sad that Amel Larrieux dropped out of the spot-light - she's an amazingly talented artist, and she looks great :D

Piano Man - have you heard Lucy Pearl's debut album? To me, it's one of those CDs that you can listen too the whole way through, and not want to skip through a song. I think it's awesome. I wish that they wouldn't have broke up. IT looks like Dawn Robinson is going back to En Vouge -= they're reuniting.

I'm not too familiar with particular neo-soul artists, but Jamiroquai and Lauren Hill kick ass with the big J taking the lead in ass kickability

No, but I'm on it. Are you talking about the self titled or the live version?

i think the term neo-soul is a revival term or a 2nd coming.
