Your Top 5 Favorite Kitchen Appliances and Why

Please tell us your top five kitchen appliances and why. Here are mine:

1. Vitamix Creations GC– essential kitchen appliance that I use on average two times a day. The company is great and product is solid, I recommend them all the time. I could never go back to a regular blender.

2. Omega J8006 Juicer- I use this to make fresh cold pressed green juice for my consumption, which has really helped my testosterone levels. It is only single masticating so it isn’t perfect, but it blows away any centrifugal juicer for greens.

3. Panasonic 1250-Watt Microwave with Inverter Technology – I like to put stuff in the toaster oven whenever I can, but sometimes you can’t avoid the microwave. The inverter technology is a real innovation (the only innovation in microwaves in forever really) because if you are reheating something delicate like meat you can avoid destroying it.

4. Instant Pot IP-DUO60 – I have to thank Kaido for this one, the Instant Pot is a real winner. I am finding not only does it take everything you would cook in a slow cooker (pot roast, stew, chili, etc.) and do it better and faster, but it also improves cooking basic items like potatoes for mash potatoes or just pieces of chicken better than other options. Everything comes out tender and delicious.

5. Excalibur 9-Tray Dehydrator – much better than your mom’s old round dehydrator, this tool has opened my eyes to all the different things you can dehydrate. I love using it to make healthy snacks for trips or even gifts during the Holidays for friends and family. You haven't lived until you have had dehydrated pineapple slices.

What are your top five?

Appliances? I don't really have that many favorite appliances. I'll just leave it at "tools" and in no particular order:

* Instant Pot DUO60 - Bought on a whim during Amazon's prime day for $99 and love it.
* Hamilton Beach 33969A slow cooker - Great programmable slow cooker for $50. Lid can also be latched closed if bringing elsewhere
* Angled measuring cups - It sounds stupid, but seriously... being able to see the amount of liquid from the top instead of looking from the side is great.
* Plunger measuring cup - It's designed for "sticky stuff" like honey, syrups, anything that sticks to the side of a container to ensure the full amount gets put in. However I'm using it for almost everything as just an adjustable measuring cup, instead of dealing with a collection of multiple fractions of a cup.
* Ninja pro duo blender - Got it on clearance for $100. While it's not as good as a Vitamix or Blendtec, it's worlds better than what I had. Having the ability to attach the "nutri-ninja" blade and blend my smoothies directly in the cup I'm going to drink out of is great. When I have a reason to use the full sized pitcher it's a great blender as well.

I'm not sure all of these count as appliances or not, but I don't have that many kitchen gadgets I guess.

(1) Vitamix Blender - That thing will blend anything. I don't actually use it more than once or twice a week, but it is still worth the price (especially if you buy refurbished).

(2) Instant Pot DUO 60 - I haven't had this one very long, but I love being able to quickly make one pot meals during the week now. There is a bit of a learning curve to using it properly, but I can see this getting used once or twice a week easily.

(3) Progressive onion chopper - Yeah it's a cheap gadget, but I cook with onions and peppers a lot. This chopper makes dicing anything a snap. I use it multiple times a week and I would buy another immediately if it broke.

(4) Cast iron skillet - When I can't grill a good skillet is a more than adequate substitute. It also makes the best corn bread and deep dish pizza ever.

(5) KitchenAid food processor - It doesn't get used every day, but handy as hell when you need it.

Assuming the basic fridge/dishwasher/microwave/toaster are a given...

1. Instant Pot - makes meal prep fast, consistent and easy.
2. Rice Cooker - coming from someone who eats a ton of rice, this is a no brainer. Makes the process mindless.
3. Coffee Grinder - freshly ground beans cannot be topped
4. Espresso Machine - nothing like fresh shots & homemade cappuccinos
5. Kitchenaid Mixer + Attachments* - fresh ground meat is amazing. fresh pasta is amazing. fodd processor attachment works wonders. makes mixing stuff as easy as ever.

*I kind of cheated and got a few appliances in one with the attachments piece.... 😀

I've been eating a lot of dried fruit recently. Problem is it's so stuffed with sugar it's ridiculous (ie, dried mango from trader joe's). Stuff is DELICIOUS though. I may have to bite on one of these...

A medium saucepan with a lid does the same thing. 2 cups water to 1 cup rice. Bring water to boil, add rice, cover and reduce heat to low for 20 minutes. What could be easier? 😵

Gosh, narrowing it down to 5 appliances is going to be tough.

1) Kitchen Aid Mixer - I have two of 'em. The 2nd bowl and attachments come in quite handy when I'm making a big batch of something.

2) Double boiler - for melting chocolate to dip cookies, ganache for cheesecakes, making chocolate truffles.

3) Kitchen Aid food processor - get lots of use for my cheesecake crusts (usually Oreos, or during the Fall, gingersnap cookies for Pumpkin Cheesecakes).

4) Kitchen food scale - I'm glad I was talked into getting this li'l equipment. It's very handy whenever I'm dealing with any type of weight measurement.

5) Instant Pot - this is a recent purchase. I've only cooked two things in it so far (Beef Straganoff and Crab mac and cheese... the former was , the latter is a do-over).

6) Omega Juicer - now veggies are a regular part of my diet

I  all my stuff.

Baklava (made with pecans, phyllo dough, cinnamon, citrus zests); this was right before the honey syrup was added
This was my 1st time making this, so there are a few things I'll improve upon for the next time (in another month or so).

Scotch Eggs
Like the Baklava, this was my 1st time making it. My ingredients were similar to Emeril Lagasse's and I honestly think they're better than the ones sold at renaissance faires. :ninja:

How did I leave that one off my list? I use that thing all the time too.

you know who the worst cooks are? the ones that tell you only need the lid of a tin can of soup to make the lamb roast 3 star michelin quality.. I hate condescending chefs.

What could be easier, you ask? Add rice & water, press 2 buttons, wait until appliance beeps, eat. 😎

Oh my dear lord in the heaven's above, please do not save me as I eat this ENTIRE THING.

All your stuff looks pretty legit. Is this just a personal hobby? Family events? Or do you sell this stuff? Looks very good!
