If anyone has any site that has the lastest Heatsink reviews that would be cool too!
Buying a 2500+ Barton and O/Cing!
Thanks!

These are real close in performance:
slk900u
slk900a
slk800

next up would be:
sk-7
aero 7+

Haven't tested the zalman 7k or the swiftech heatsinks.

What mobo do you have? Not all will fit the slk900u, but most will fit the slk900a. Couple that with a 92mm tornado fan connected to a good fan controller like the sunbeam, you have yourself a cooling fiend. slk900a review, slk800 review

blade,

I have a SOLTEK SL-75FRN2-L, nForce2 board. Also right now using a AX-7 HS. Ive had it for awhile and havnt read much on the lastest HS and thought I would ask if I should upgrade it also since Im O/Cing a faster newer CPU now.

Thanks!

I have the AX-7; I use AS3 w/it. I'm running a XP2100 @ 2.100GHz @ 1.750V on a 8RDA+. My temps never go above 49C, even with P95, on a hot day. If the room is cool, high temps are more like 46C. Oh and this is with a nice, quiet 34CFM 80mm fan. <--Important fact!

The AX-7 was THE top dog back in it's day. It is no longer the top dog...but it IS half the price of a SLK900. :)

I have a 2500 Barton that I plan on OCing the snot out of...so I just bought a SLK800A (three prong clip) It IS better than the AX-7, but not by a whole lot. You'll notice that a lot of HS reviews still use the AX-7 in the comparos as a "reference cooler." That says something.

It all boils down to:

1. How much you want to spend
2. What kind of OCing are you doing? Mild or wild?
3. What CFM fan you'll put on there. If I was willing to put a 7,000 rpm Tornado fan on my AX-7, I'd never need to buy another HS again! But I like things quiet.
