Your Thoughts about Blackguards?

I read the reviews on Blackguards and have mixed feelings. I love strategic combat, and that part looks great. The problem is a very convoluted and confusing character progression system. On top of that, there is no exploration or sand box features. The game is all just clicking on a picture and sending you to the next battle. I think it's odd that the game excels at one thing(combat), but fails terribly in others.
Any thoughts?

It looks cool, I think there is a demo on Steam as well. One of my friends bought and played the entire game, he liked it quite a bit.

I'm a sucker for good, challenging strategic combat. I'll probably buy the game, but it's too bad they seemed to leave out the rest of the game-exploration,story, etc.

There is a review up on the site, check it out if you want. The game did not draw me in, in any way. Combat is tactical yes, but so clunky and slooooow. Exploration is limited, and the abilities tree has 95% "perks" that are worthless. I regret my purchase.

It's.... ok. The combat is tactical but in a limited sense. Nothing like say XCOM. It could use a little more itemization as well. I think my melee guys have been using the same armor since getting 25% into the game, and my mage the same staff he started with.
