Your tax dollars at waste.

My neighbor works for a company that is involved with rebuilding some infrastructure in the WTC area and travels there a couple times a month, and shared this experience from his most recent visit.

At one of the sites, two unions were battling over which one should be responsible for operating the elevator at the work site. One union said it should be their guy, since the elevator was at a location which they controlled previously. Another union said it should be their guy because it was currently classified as a construction location. Whichever government agency was handling the work could not come up with a solution to make everyone happy.

Now keep in mind that the elevator doesn't need an operator at all. You get in and push the button for the floor you want, just like any other elevator. But apparently the unions have rules which require a union member to control the elevator.

Their compromise? One person from each union to run the elevator! One union guy has a blue stick, and the other has a white stick. When someone enters and requests a floor, they simultaneously push the button using the sticks.

That has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
I can probably guess where they simultaneously stick those sticks when they're not being used to push the elevator button too. 😛

Sounds more like a Union issue than a government problem.

You should renamed it "Unions continue to waste tax dollars and provide no real benefit to the workers"
