Your take on alcohol.

What is your take on alcohol? What have your experiences with it been like? Did you grow up with alcohol in your family, or was it something that you grew up with it being taught as being "forbidden" and bad/evil?

If it has, how has it affected your life?

Edit: feel free to give me ideas to add/change to the poll, as I have a tendency to make sh!tty ones.

I don't particularly like most of it (like my Bombay Sapphire though 🙂), but I have no problem with it.

Got pretty effed up on vodka once, don't ever plan on doing that again.

Haven't been anything more than a little tipsy since.

I hope you know that gin is the entry way drug for scotch!

Alcohol is like most drugs (yes, even illegal drugs): relatively harmless and even beneficial (think of medicine without alcohol) when used responsibly, harmful if abused. Or think of it like fire (still mankind's greatest discovery): beneficial when controlled in the hearth, burning your house down when it's not.

if you're responsible, its fine. A lot of people aren't responsible though (i guess myself included, at times.. 😉 ) but i'm not one to judge..

Growing up seeing drunken fools around holidays, I was not into it. I've tried various alc. beverages in junior hign, but didn't like it much. Nowadays, I would drink beers when I go out for dinner with friends, or occasionally I'd buy a bottle of wine when I cook something real nice.

Recent study (a couple days ago, I believe) did confirm that moderate consumption of alcohol (regardless it is consumed with meal or not) would lower one's risk of heart diseases.

Not a problem, believe it or not I understand.

Personally? Never touched the stuff and probably never will. Just a personal choice though; my family and friends are free to do as they choose and it doesn't bother me, so long as they don't try to get me to drink. Why? Well, my family has some history of alcoholism, so I've seen the bad part of what it can do to someone. I figure if I don't start, I'll never miss it. On a less serious note, I've just never really seen a point to getting pissed, and I am plenty capable of making a perfectly good idiot of myself without having to be drunk 😛

Very thin line between social/problem drinking. Like any other recreational drug it's a waste of time and a health drag. And a primary cause of CRS (cant remember shite) do to blackouts and hangovers. High incidence of domestic violence/homicide. Soooo good luck to ya if you choose to booze.
