i was thinking that in theory, it would be better to start kindergarten at age 4, that way kids dont graduate until they are 17, to avoid all the problems that 18 year olds bring...JMHO

The law in Texas is to keep Teachers from having sex with students no matter their age. The age of consent in Texas is 17.

It has to do with laws prohibiting teachers from having sex with their students.

I still think some of those are stupid. I agree that teachers shouldn't be having sex with HS students, but I don't think some of those teacher deserve jail time. Some of those woman are going to be going to jail while their consenting HS male partners will be off scott free to brag about their exploits. Unless rape or young children are involved, it takes two to tango.

Well I think for those that have had flings with 18yo's there shouldn't be much further needed than losing their job.

That's because the older teachers are seen as the ones in position of authority and power in the eyes of the law. They are also supposed to be the ones that know better.
