Hi
I built the system specs below some 2 years ago and never a problem until tonite.
A pillow fell down on top of the computer case all day while i was out and partially covered the airspace above the PWS vent. I didn't notice until i tried to run a proggie after i got home, got a black screen, waited, hit the reset button and after initial screen flicker from reset, nothing happened. I guess this is called a no-post?
I saw the pillow, removed it and it felt -very- warm. I opened up the case and turned it on again and the 4 diagnostic led's in the back were solid red all the time - it would not progress through the boot stages. I d/c the power supply cord from the computer, waited a sec, and plugged it back in. *the power supply did not whir up the computer for like 2 secs like it always does when it's re-plugged in.* while it was open i cleaned out the dust from the case and from around the cpu fan (chrome orb)
i waited like an hour with the side panel off and with a room fan on high to try and help it cool off, tried again, but same problem.
Is my cpu fried or my PWS? The PWS powers the 2 fans and the leds, I can hear the HD's whir up, too. But it does not show any bios info. Just a vacant screen on my monitor telling me it's not getting a signal.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
ps-the cpu was installed with the heatsink cream when put together in Dec 2000.
