Who do you think will be the candidates and who do you think will win?

Unless something major happens to him Trump will be assured to be the Republican candidate, my thoughts on who will be the Dem candidate is Cory Booker oddly enough. I don’t really like the guy and my guess is totally just anguess, but I think he has the name recognition to do it and can be energized enough to fire up some people. The ones at the top now (Biden, Sanders, and Harris) I think will trade positions on who is top dog but ultimately I don’t think either of them last though.

My preference is Pete Buttigieg and if he were the candidate he’d get my vote but my hunch is he won’t be. As far as VP's I’m really not sure. And hell im not even sure if Mike Pence will be.

But from my guess I’d say Trump vs Booker with Booker winning. What’s yours?

Moved from OT.

Michael Obama jumps in to save the socialist party and puts Mayor Pete as VP snubbing #Yang.

I have a feeling Trump gets in again.

I'm more worried about our election though, have a bad feeling we get a conservative government too. With climate change being such a serious issue the last thing we need is conservatives in power and if it happens for both Canada and US it will be bad for us in many aspects as well. Bad one sided trade deals, etc.

No idea but i give Trump 50/50. I'd like someone young enough to remember things and not be a moral horror.

Biden wins, not by a huge margin, but he succeeds thanks to both broad anti-Trump sentiment (thus high voter turnout) as well as efforts to counter Republican election rigging.

I'd almost be more interested to see what would happen if the Democrats win, whoever the candidate is. Just how poorly does Trump take the loss? Does he simply moan and whine, or does he do something truly stupid like contesting the results or organizing another sham voter fraud investigation? For that matter, I'm curious to see how mindless Trump drones like Slow would act when their balloon was burst.

My guess is that Biden is the nominee and that he beats Trump by a modest margin, less than 5 points.

Trump starts a war with iran, china and russia. Guaranteed reelection as the country will be too scared to vote in another president. You know, like the second George bush.

I do agree that Trump will try and start an armed conflict if he's losing. I don't agree it will make him win.

Trump wins and the Democrats claim that they used help from China to expose Trump's help from China.

Trump loses, bigly. Stokes a recession, turns Texas blue, all before heading off to prison.

Republicans blame everyone but themselves, profess to never have supported the guy. Team Treason being purged from power, country slowly starts to correct the mistakes put in place by the mentally ill traitor and conman. Republican party continues it's decline into melting pot of sexism, racism and fundie asshattery, becomes irrelevant everywhere except certain red states. Trump becomes the conservative pariah for the next 100 years in popular culture, easily outdoing the idiocy of Dubya and the corruption of Nixon.

Economy strong/recovering by Sept/Oct = narrow EC win for Trump

Economy faltering/recession = Any Democrat wins.

I think warren has a real shot at it. Her plan to forgive student loan debt is a direct vote purchase. A lot of young people have debt they may never be able to pay back, why wouldn't they vote for her?

Dems love to pick candidates from MA who proceed to lose in the general election (JFK was the exception to the rule). If she's the nominee my hunch is she loses. We already have a (sort of) economic populist in the White House and I can't see the voters going for another one in Warren. Of the candidates with a realistic shot, I continue to think Mayor Pete is the one best positioned to beat Trump as he's everything Trump is not (in the good sense) - intelligent, thoughtful, able to think through the consequences of actions and their 2nd/3rd order effects, not a buffoon or narcissist. His campaign theme could rif off the MAGA theme and literally be "Make our President smart again."

Trump dies of a KFC-induced heart attack the night before the election. Dems are too busy partying and they sleep through the next day, Pence wins.

Trump wins if the economy stays strong. Election time is a ways off.

With the many hundred billion dollars we'll have to pay I wonder how well that's going to work? We, not China, will pay for that big chunk of change, thank Trump.

So far China has paid the vast majority of the tariffs.

So you don't do science or economics. The net result is that prices are increased to pay for tariffs and who pays? We do. If this was so innocuous then Trump wouldn't be delaying until after Christmas where Trump said he didn't want to hurt businesses, which are linked to consumer (note consumer) spending.

So magically this applies up to Christmas and not the rest of the year.

China pays for everything? Trump says otherwise with Christmas, that most wonderful time if the year (plays Andy Williams).

By that logic tax cuts are just vote purchases but Republicans never describe them as that. Why?
