"Your patients have $43k in available credit"...at a Dr's office :(

Do tax work and was doing a return for a Dr. and in the paperwork was a statement from some company that he uses which provides credit accounts to patients.

The statement showed how much available credit the clients had available and suggested services or ideas that could be sold onto the patient. Kinda made me :(

I know it's all about the $$$ and expect medical care to be no different. Pushing services on those unable to afford it, and possibly unnecessary. I doubt the Dr. gave the statement a second thought, but I'm sure there are lots that do.

If you're wanting to nickel and dime, or scam or whatever people buying a car or buying a Playstation, fine. But on something like healthcare? Just seems kinda low.

Weak rant.

And to the woman driving the VW Beetle the other night in the rain. I don't care about your fuck fruit or crotch spawn, get the hell out of the fast lane. You're just making things more dangerous for yourself and passengers driving like that.

I've found that dentists are the worst about this..

Yes, they are.
Every time I went in to get my teeth cleaned it was like dealing with a sleazy used car sales guy trying to sell you braces/other alignment crap, a shitty electric toothbrush, oral cancer screenings and lots of "optional" procedures that cost shittons of money.

I use Carecredit to supplement my insurance. It's like a credit card for medical/dental expenses, and they have interest free programs for 12 months. Takes the sting out of a $1000 crown.

Anyway, I could see them pulling something like that.

how does my doctor know my credit line? They'd have to run a credit report on me.

I go to a practice that was started as a nonprofit specifically to help poor people. I pay full price, being slightly less poor than most. But then again, I'm subsidizing some single mom, so it's a moral victory. The best part is that nobody tries to sell you anything. Also, a lot of the staff are attractive younger women doing a few years of nonprofit work to get a loan incentive. (There's a community college up the street.)

It's kind of a win-win-win-win.

Wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth is the biggest scam ever. I'm fairly certain a nigerian dentist came up with this shit.

Fucking 10 years ago I had a dentist tell me I should have my wisdom teeth pulled.

I had the wisdom to not have it done. I guess that's the real reason they call them wisdom teeth. If they don't bother me, why should I have them pulled?

Yes. Because anecdotal stories applies to everything!
If I could walk on the freeway, and not get hit...you should try it too!
Eff that safety crap.

I've never once had a family doc try to sell me on shit he didn't think I needed. Dentists I'm leery of. I feel like they push, for example, crowns more than they should for borderline cases (like mine) where a filling could still suffice.

The couple times I've been to a chiropractor, I ended up feeling like I was being pushed on a timeshare.

My dentist pushed cosmetic dentistry on me the first time I came in. I have a small gap between my front teeth. I said I didn't want it and he hasn't mentioned it since then.
